Santacon Newport 2011 is officially over!
...and was it ever worth the wait.
We met up in Washington Park and everyone brought canned goods for the RI Food Bank. Then we headed off to the first of 10 stops for the night!
We thought it was going to be just a few of us, but believe it or not, we actually had two groups join us from NYC! Can you believe it?
Three folks came down from the big city to join the first Newport Santacon and they even brought us homemade Christmas cookies (thanks sexy Mrs. Santa!). With light up costumes and signs we knew the game was ON!
At our first stop we had four additional lovely ladies from NYC join the party and we were up to about two dozen by the end of the night. A small group but wow did we have fun.
We hopped on over to Celtica Pub, Buskers, One Pelham East (with the awesome band RUSTY) and then crashed the Christmas in Newport tree lighting event. We definitely made a splash!
Then it was off to the Rhino Bar, Mudville Pub where we raised more than $100 for Finnz Fundz (helping families with children affected by Cystic Fibrosis) and we closed out the night at Billy Goode's with The Ravers reggae band. Eleven hours - ten stops, and along the way we had a fun holiday trivia game (winner got the amazing squawking rubber chicken!) and a costume award (congats to Zach from NYC!). Can't wait till NEXT YEAR!
If you have any pictures you'd like to share, please send them to nrafi@hotmail.com and we'll upload them on the website. Thanks to everyone for coming out for our first Santacon...we hope to see you all again next year - and bring your friends!
